Honest Man 02:49
A masked gunman shot my industry dead today. Said he had the right to take it away. It’s like an old fashioned stick-up along the highway. Where one gang robs you to save you from another gang on their way. I thought if I were an honest man and did the best that I can, That I could earn my way. So won’t you please tell me who’s fighting for the honest man today. You do all the heavy lifting, break your back, and behave. Only for a posse of banditos to come and claim your stake. I shouldn’t have to kill a man to keep him in his place. But sometimes I’m sure you can understand that I might think it anyway.

Tensions are high but don’t believe the hype. We weren’t even angry until they started this fight. Well here we are asleep again and waking to a storm. Let’s get ourselves together and find the love we were born. The love we were born. Was innocent and pure in form. Before they taught how to hate and fear life’s storms. The love we were born. Was honest and true. But I found pure love when I found you. There’s trouble in the streets again and nerves are high. Divide and then conquer and then stir the fire. But they can’t make us turn on each other even with their lies. So let’s keep ourselves together and trust the love inside. The love inside Was innocent and pure in form. Before they taught how to hate and fear life’s storms. The love inside. Was honest and true. But I found pure love when I found you.

It’s like midnight on a Sunday in a small southern town. Everywhere I want to go has been shut down. Move at your own discretion. I smell the stench of suspicion. This looks like the work from the architects of oppression. You can tell me that you want to try and keep me safe. But if you keep me locked inside and I go insane…. I’m still a contagious threat who craves sunshine for happiness. I feel like a sitting duck on a sinking ship. Well the bills are piling up and my stress won’t pass. There’s no paper on the shelves to blow my nose or wipe my … No work, no play, no school in session. We’re the 99% in depression. This smells of the work of the architects of oppression.

Your foot’s on the gas pedal of my heart. Speeding towards a cliff in a jalopy fallin’ apart. This rust bucket can’t support us anymore. Cruising for a breakdown on the side of the road. And a fiery torch ain’t strong enough to repair our wounds. We’re running out of road and steel toward impending doom. These suicide doors are locked from the outside. I’m trapped in here with you but you can’t drive. The wheels are coming off and the spark plugs just won’t spark. Our lights don’t work and daylight’s turning to dark. We’re speeding downhill and the brakes won’t brake. Trying to talk sense to you but it don’t take. Your foot’s on the gas pedal of my heart. In a jalopy that’s fallin’ apart. The spark plugs just won’t spark. And daylight is turning to dark.

Free Love 02:33
She said Go out and find what you need. Even if that doesn’t include me. This world is a vast and scary place to be. So she said find a love that makes you feel free. You’re the one for me I know. Because my heart tells me so. And my worries and pain all just disappear. And I sleep better at night. When your arms hold me tight. The door is open but nowhere would I rather be. Cause you are the love that makes me feel free. He says I’ll worship you, and adore; All your quirks and then I’ll love you some more. I know we’re both doing fine on our own, but your presence makes me feel right at home. You’re the one for me I know. Because the signs all tell me so. And my inner child comes back to life. And I sleep better at night when our bodies are pressed up tight. And I wake from my dreams to a love that makes me feel free. Yes, you are the dream that makes me feel free. You are the love that makes me feel free.

Lightening 01:19
Sometimes you catch lightening in a bottle. And sometimes lightening strikes you. Sometimes you win your battles and sometimes your battles best you. I thought that I’d lost my life. Figured that it was done. But you came along and you taught me that I’m not the only one. Well there can’t be two or there’s none. There’s no moon without a sun. And there ain’t no use in fightin’ once you’ve caught your bottle of lightenin’. Sometimes you catch your bottle of lightening and sometimes she catches you.

I’d rather be crazy about, than because of you. I’d have to be loony to wanna be sane. Maybe we can figure it out; this lovin’ game. We got nothing to lose but our minds (again). So I’ll give it another shot if you will too. I’ll walk the edge of the cliff if I can walk with you. You’d have to be loony to doubt and walk away. Two eggs on the griddle risk for scrambled eggs. So maybe we can give it a shot and not go sane. You’d have to be outta’ your mind to not wanna lose it again. So I’ll risk hitching a ride to the funny farm. If I can split a cab with you for a ride along.

I’m feeling claustrophobic as I’m sure you are too. Been stuck in this apartment trying to invent things to do. So I sleep through the morning and wake up half past noon. I’ve lived through many a thing but nothing quite like this flu. I know we’re all in this together; separately apart. But life is still wondrous when you open up your heart. And pancakes for dinner. And making love for lunch. Things could be a whole lot worse like a day without your touch. Ain’t no sunshine since you’ve gone to Paradise with John. A bizarre week it’s been, I hope we never meet again. Baby I’m glad you recovered. I’m not angry or making blame. I know we’ll love one another in another time and another place For the mailman always delivers like the sun shines above. I know we’ll love again for in this process I trust. So don’t be hard on yourself. I know you’re not to blame. We’ll meet again soon, on that higher plane.

Hello stranger. I come to you from the past. Cuz we’re in danger. I fear we may not last. Times are rough but they’ve always been. So let’s just focus on us again.
Get back to the basics of our past and stop chasing a life too fast. Hello stranger. You have all the tools. When you weren’t looking, they turned on you. The things you bought to clear a path, don’t work, don’t last, and don’t understand. There’s smoke in the mirror of our life and you don’t recognize the man. Well, who’ve we become since we took the reigns?
Who’s to honor and who’s to blame? A life no one could foresee. Well maybe we’re just blind or maybe just weak. (Hello stranger. We’re in danger. Smoke and mirrors. Face your fears) Hello stranger. We’ve got work to do. Cuz we’re in danger of repeating like fools.
